PROBLEM & OPPORTUNITY

How might we make tracking productivity fun with friends while keeping it accountable?

Fluffle began as a career tracker for designers. But CoCreate’s community wanted more: a place to co-work, stay consistent, and cheer each other on.

FINAL DESIGN SOLUTION

Fluffle evolved into a multiplayer productivity app where progress is tracked, shared, and gamified.

01

Start by creating WORLDS

Friends can join different “worlds” to co-work together.

Each world is a shared island where progress is visible, so you always know who’s working. It turns productivity into a community space, not just a solo task list.

02

Get your AI-powered DAILY DIGEST

Users receive a simple snapshot of their tracked activity using AI.

The digest highlights what you achieved, where you need focus, and builds a daily ritual of lightweight accountability, no extra effort required.

03

Keep your FLUFFLE PET happy

A desktop companion that lives alongside your work.

The pet thrives when you’re productive and needs care if you slack off. It turns focus into a playful responsibility that makes working feel less lonely.

04

Stay on track with PRODUCTIVITY WIDGETS

The widgets: To-Do lists, Pomodoro timers, progress rings, and even lo-fi music.

Earn XP as you work, nudge your friends when they slow down, and level up together. Productivity becomes visible and social.

05

Grow your world with SUNSHINE POINTS

Your focus time converts into XP, which turns into Sunshine Points.

Spend points to plant trees, decorate your island, and unlock new visuals. Every work session becomes a way to grow your shared world.

USER RESEARCH

We started by asking: what do people really need from a productivity tool?

01 | Discord Archives + Surveys

Reviewed community chats and ran surveys to capture needs around focus, accountability, and motivation.

Reviewed
2000+ Discord messages. Users wanted a way to focus together in real time, with daily check-ins, friendly nudges, and less lonely work sessions.

02 | Competitive Analysis

Compared apps like GatherTown and co-working tools to spot gaps and opportunities for Fluffle + AI.

Benchmarked
5+ apps (GatherTown, Forest, Habitica, Pomofocus). Most offered either focus (timers, trackers) or fun (avatars, games), but not both.

03 | Old Fluffle

Audited the original job-tracker to identify scattered features, lack of support, and an overwhelming UX.

Analyzed
10+ users on the original job-tracker. It was career-centric and scattered, which hurt engagement.

Fluffle became a natural extension: a tool for the community to work, learn, and stay motivated side by side.

IDEATION & PROCESS INVOLVED

I led Fluffle’s ideation process by exploring multiple product directions and running workshops to shape its final feature set.

01 | Early Ideation

I mapped out potential flows for Progress, Friends, Worlds, Profile, Discover, and Dashboard. The goal was to explore how each direction could drive engagement, accountability, and community support.

02 | Team Alignment

I presented these ideas to the team, and we jammed together to decide what was most impactful and feasible. This helped us converge from a wide range of directions into a focused product strategy.

03 | Feature Deep Dives

Through structured workshops, we broke down complex areas like:

  • Progress Tracking: XP → Sunshine system, badge families, and notification strategy.

  • Engagement Mechanics: Streaks, nudges, rewards, and Fluffle Pet interactions.

  • Social Features: Group rituals, progress sharing, and multiplayer accountability.

04 | Outcomes

This process created a prioritized feature roadmap that balanced fun (pets, badges, gamification) with accountability (digests, nudges, progress rituals), ensuring Fluffle delivered both emotional support and productivity gains.

FIGMA WORK + DESIGN SYSTEM

01 | Figma Files – Full App Designs

I built the entire app in Figma, covering every feature: Worlds, Progress Digest, Fluffle Pet, Widgets, and Islands.

02 | Fluffle Design System

Colors, typography, icons, components, and widgets all live in a shared design system.

This kept the product playful but clean, and made it easier for the dev team to implement.

New Design System Updates

ICONOGRAPHY

For the new Fluffle Redesign, we used the Pixel Icon Library to match the overall style.

BACKGROUND STYLES

Glass backgrounds are applied to cards, modals, and overlays to add depth and visual hierarchy.

03 | Audits on the Developed App

Once the app was being built, I did UX audits to align the dev build with the designs.

Shared feedback on spacing, color usage, and flows so the live product matched the intended experience.

PROBLEM & OPPORTUNITY

How might we make tracking productivity fun with friends while keeping it accountable?

Fluffle began as a career tracker for designers. But CoCreate’s community wanted more: a place to co-work, stay consistent, and cheer each other on.

MY REFLECTION & LEARNINGS

01 | Learning to Prioritize Scope

I learned how to focus on what mattered most for the MVP and avoid feature overload, which kept the product simple and buildable.

02 | Improving Developer Handoffs

I practiced writing clear design specs and doing audits on the live build. This made handoffs smoother and helped engineers implement designs more accurately.

03 | Balancing Fun with Usability

I discovered how to design features (pets, badges, islands) that were playful but still practical for productivity.

04 | Explaining Design Decisions Clearly

I learned how to communicate trade-offs and design reasoning so the whole team stayed aligned.

05 | Adapting to Product Changes

I experienced firsthand how a product can pivot, from a job tracker to a productivity app, and how design thinking supports that flexibility.
